Privacy

You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or contact details.

Your postcode and address

We use your postcode and address only to look up your collection days. We keep:

  • the collection days for your address for up to a week, so they load quickly next time
  • the days collections were scheduled for 3 weeks, so we can show recent ones
  • lists of addresses at a postcode for up to 30 days, so we do not need to look them up again

We save these under a scrambled code instead of your postcode or address. The same address always gets the same code, so we can find your collection days again, but the code cannot be turned back into your address without a secret key that only our server has.

We do not keep a log of the pages you visit. When something goes wrong, we log the error so we can fix it, with postcodes and property reference numbers removed. We only keep the most recent errors.

When something goes wrong

When we cannot get collection days, we note which council it was, the first half of the postcode (like "E3") and what went wrong, so we can fix it. We do not keep your full postcode or address with it, and we delete these notes after 30 days.

We also count how many searches each council gets each day, so we know which councils to look after first. These are only daily totals per council, with nothing about you or your address.

Feedback

If you send us feedback, we keep what you write, and your email address if you give it so we can reply. If you report wrong bin days, we keep which council it was, and your address only if you choose to include it. We delete feedback after 90 days.

Remembering your address

If you choose "Remember this address", it is saved in your browser on your device, not sent to us, and you can forget it at any time. Nothing is saved unless you choose to.

Cookies and analytics

This service does not set cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It does not use cookies, and does not track you across websites.

Who we share information with

To look up your collection days, we send your postcode or address to your council's website, as you would if you checked it yourself. We look up which council covers your postcode with postcodes.io, and for some councils we look up the addresses at your postcode with the Ordnance Survey Places API.

MY BIN.DAY runs through Cloudflare, which delivers the site and protects it from attacks. Like any web host, it handles each request, including your postcode, on our behalf.
